Bequest Language
Bequests, or gifts by will or trust, are one of Ohio State's most important sources of individual support. These types of gifts can fund many areas, including student scholarships, faculty support, patient care, and academic units. In addition, bequests are critical in meeting the university's educational, cultural, and research needs.
Gifts via will or trust can be made in the form of a specific cash or property gift, specific asset, or a percentage or remainder of your estate. You can use the following sample bequest language in your will or trust:
"I give (specific amount, specific asset, percentage, or remainder of estate) to The Ohio State University Foundation, or its successor, Columbus, Ohio, to benefit (college, unit, program) at The Ohio State University or as further designated by me in writing to the Foundation."
If you are considering a gift through a will or a trust to Ohio State and would like to receive more specific language to ensure that your exact intentions are carried out, a member of the estate and gift planning team would be happy to work with you and your advisor.
